THE  BARRY  BROWN CLAY STUDIO

The Barry Brown Clay Studio is located inside the Art Center of Corpus Christi; open to the public for classes and available for studio use by current members only. It is a full service Cone 10 clay art studio. The “Clay Studio Group” is a volunteer organization that manages and runs the studio. We provide clay art classes for beginners and advanced artists in wheel throwing and hand building for adults and youth.

Membership includes use of all studio equipment and space, unlimited glaze and firing privileges with studio purchased clay. No outside clay or unapproved glazes allowed.  Equipment includes a large hand-building room and a multitude of available tools, 6 wheels, 3 electric kilns and 1 large capacity gas kiln.  

MISSION

To promote the clay arts to the people of the Corpus Christi and surrounding areas.

about joining:

  • All clay studio members must be a current member of the Art Center, see below for details.  All Art Center memberships are good for one year.

  • It is $25 for 25 pounds of clay–includes glazing and firing at no extra cost.  Can be purchased in the studio.

  • New members must go through a Clay Studio Orientation before working in the studio, to be scheduled with Jan Sijansky, Clay Studio President.

  • Members with little to no clay experience are required to take a Clay 101 class to learn the basics in hand-building and glazing, which is offered once a month.  See "Education" tab.
